Quinto Sol, an original Aztec inspired piece tells the mesoamerican legend of the creation of the world, the universe, and humanity according to the current calendar period. Carnaval de Morelos, a rarely performed work outside of this south central region, blends the pre-colonial and Moorish traditions brought to Morelos by the Spanish into an elaborate and rhythmic presentation. There’s also an impressive representation of the Mexican Revolution of 1910, and a festive mosaic of dance suites from the states of Michoacan, Tamaulipas, Veracruz, Guerrero, Sinaloa, Durango, and Jalisco.
